Summer Studies Descriptions

  • biblical manhood and womanhood

We live in a time where there is a lot of confusion about gender identity and gender roles.  With the help of author Kevin DeYoung, we will investigate what the Bible says about manhood, womanhood and how each is called to serve in the family and in the church. Leaders: Steven Burton & Beth Steinbarger. Book Cost: $15 (Men and Women in the Church: A Short, Biblical, Practical Introduction by Kevin DeYoung).

  • the problem of pain

If God were good, He would wish to make His creatures perfectly happy, and if God were almighty, He would be able to do what He wished. But the creatures are not happy. Therefore, God lacks either goodness, power, or both. This is the problem of pain.” Join us as we are offered gospel-centered hope and wisdom to help heal a world of suffering and brokenness as Lewis reconciles this issue with the profound depth of God’s love and power. Leader: David Gallagher. Book Cost: $10 (The Problem of Pain by C.S. Lewis).

  • journey evangelism TRAINING

For those who feel scared, unequipped or uninterested in sharing Jesus with their family and friends, this study is for you.   You will not only study evangelism, but actually do it with gentleness and respect.  Leader: Pastor Dan Jackson. No Cost.

  • women's study

For women 18 years old and up. What does it look like when women flourish? This study aims to equip women with tools to identify lies that come at us about where to find real life. We will dig into what God says in His Word about abundant life in Christ & we will discern worldly influences that threaten to warp our understanding of what it really means to have a Christian faith that flourishes. Please read chapter 1 and complete the discussion questions prior to July 14. Leaders: Angelika Edgar & Allison Tuttle. Book Cost: $13 (Flourish: How the Love of Christ Frees us from Self-Focus by Lydia Brownback).

  • only jesus study

For kids ages 6-12. We'll take an honest look at the heroes of our faith and not only highlight the good they did, but also expose their failures. This honest look will remind us that only Jesus is our perfect Hero worthy of fame and admiration. No materials or preparation is required. Leaders: Beth Macco and Katie Horton.

  • middle school book study

Join us in learning how to make a defense of your faith as we engage this helpful study manual on apologetics. Using down-to-earth language, Pratt teaches how to answer nonbelievers in a practical format using concepts that any one can understand. Includes illustrations and review questions.  Age: 6-8th Grade. Leaders: Jack Rymer & Zach Riddiough. Book Cost: $7.50 (Every Thought Captive by Richard L. Pratt, Jr.)

  • high school Book Study

For this summer study we will be continuing on through the book of Romans starting in Chapter 8.  We will read through and apply the practical nature of the book of Romans to our everyday lives dealing with issues such as: Fighting sin, living as a child of God, God's sovereignty and our responsibility.  "Romans 8-16 For You" by Timothy Keller will be used as a study guide, but the book is not required. Leader: David Steinbarger.
