Dan Pierce

Deacon

Since the word deacon means "servant" or "waiter", I serve others needs, primarily in tangible ways like caring for them, feeding them, providing transportation, or paying housing related expenses.  In doing so I also speak of Jesus' love and the gospel, so most importantly they can know salvation.  I'm involved in various facility needs, decisions on scholarships for counseling, and visitation.

Within the church we have an active Mercy Team and many volunteers in Care Ministries that support all this.

About Dan

I retired last year after 40 years working with Schneider and before that served in the Army Military Police. Nancy and I have been married almost 44 years, our 2 children are married, and we love our 6 grandchildren.  The Lord has provided us great gifts throughout our lives and we love serving Him within the church. As a landscape photographer, Nancy has taught me some of her skills, so we wander through God's creation capturing in pictures the amazing things He has created!

Fun Facts:

What do you do in your free time?

  • Walking -- whether with Nancy and cameras, or on a mountain trail with my backpack on!

What is your favorite Bible Verse?

  • Ephesians 2:8-10 -- "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast.  For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

If you could meet anyone in history who would it be?

  • William Brewster -- Elder of the Pilgrim colony landing in 1620 at Plymouth, Massachusetts.  I'm descended from him, and I would like to know how he cared for a congregation through the illnesses of that first winter that took about half of them home to heaven.
